Polyimide nanocomposites have emerged as a promising class of materials with diverse applications in the textile industry. This chapter provides an in-depth exploration of the advancements and potential of polyimide nanocomposites for textile applications. By incorporating nanofillers and reinforcing materials into polyimides, researchers have achieved enhanced mechanical strength, thermal stability, flame retardancy, and electrical conductivity, making these materials highly desirable for various textile applications. The chapter discusses the preparation methods and properties of polyimide nanocomposites, shedding light on their suitability for protective clothing in extreme environments. The exceptional thermal and chemical resistance of polyimide composites has led to their use in materials of firefighters, military personnel, aerospace, and aviation, where their lightweight yet robust nature is highly advantageous. The integration of polyimide nanocomposites into electronic textiles has also opened new avenues for wearable electronics, sensors, and flexible printed circuit boards. Their electrical properties combined with flexibility and durability have given rise to innovative electronic textiles with potential applications in healthcare and consumer electronics. The chapter summarizes the diverse application of polyimide composites in textile field with future perspectives including sustainable reinforcements, multifunctional textiles, nanotechnology advancements, biomedical applications, and large-scale manufacturing. These future directions offer exciting possibilities for further enhancing the properties and functionalities of polyimide nanocomposites in the textile industry.
