The effects of maternal systemic hypotension on pregnancy and fetal outcome were investigated in this study. 73 hypotensive and 659 normotensive pregnant women were included in the study. All these cases "were investigated with respect of time of placental maturation, pregnancy complications like premature contractions, gestational diabetes, premature rupture of membranes, placenta previa, ablatio placenta, gestational age, birth weight, placental weight andpostpartum Apgar scores.Time of placental maturation was 1.2-1.8 weeks earlier and placentas were 39-56 gr lighter in hypotensive group (p<0.001). The investigation of the fetal outcome showed 464-594 gr lighter neonates in hypotensive group (p<0.001) and the week of delivery was 1.8-2.5 weeks earlier. The first and fifth minutes Apgar scores were 7.7±4.6 and 8.8±4.9 in hypotensive group, 8.5±2.0 and 9.8±1.0 in normotensive group respectively. These findings describe the importance of hypotension as a risk of pregnancy and that we have to observe carefully.
