Özet
189 SUMMARY This investigation has been achieved by usiag five cotton varieties obtained from Nazilli Cotton Research Bnstitute which are named as Nazilli 87, Nazilli 84, Ege 7913, Delcerro and Nazilli 66-100. These cottons have been spun into Nm 30, 32, 34, 40, 50, 60, 70 carded yarns and Nm 10, 20, 34, 40, 50 rotor yarns. The fibre tests have been made in two different methods. The bundle tests have been achieved on HVI line. Length, fineness, length uniformity, strength, elongation, trash and color values have been obtained by HVI measurements. single fibre measurements have been achieved on AFIS instruments and some fibre characteristics such as short fibre content, fibre diameter, nep size and count., dust content and trash hcwe been determined. According to the obtained fibre data and working conditions which are recommended in literature, various counts of carded ring and O.E-Rotor yarns have been span. The relationships between yarn properties such as strength, elongation, -irregularity, count and twist level have been investigated. As a result of this investigation, it is found that in ring spun yarns, 50 % span length is the most effective factor on yarn strength. An increase in fiber fineness results in an increase in irregularity, thin «places, thick places in both carded and O.E-Rotor yarns. It also results in- decrease in yarn strength.190 Yarn elongation is proportional to fiber elongation. Fiber strength has been observed as an effective parameter which affects yarn strength. It is also determined that, yarn strength has a lineer relationship with yarn count and twist. In coarse yarn counts, the total effect of fibre parameters on yarn properties is quite low. But this effect is greater in case of fine yarns. In rotor yarns, this effect is lower. As a consequence it can be said that, fibre parameters are more effective in production of fine ring yarns, but they are not effective in rotof yarns, especially in coarse counts
