Özet
Item analysis procedures based on Item-Response Theory, which can be seen as an extension of Classical Test Theory with additional advantages, were applied to a personality scale. Item difficulty, item discrimination, item-model fit and information concepts were tested on the Beck Hopelessness Scale items. Specifications, advantages and disadvantages of modem and classical item analysis procedures were compared. In comparing modem test theory with classical theory, it was shown that modem test theory allows for a more detailed analysis of the relations between items and latent traits. It was pointed out that, as with ability scales, using modem test theory more widely in personality measurement may contribute to the development of personality scales with higher construct validity.
