Özet
Çürüğün önlenmesi ve tedavisi için uygulanan tedavilerin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılan randomize klinik çalışmalarda son 50 yılda çok büyük gelişmeler kaydedilmiştir. Çürükle ilgili klinik çalışmaların, daha ileri teşhis yöntemlerinin geliştirilmesinde ve yüksek çürük aktivitesi gösteren bireylerle ilgili tedavi yöntemlerinin planlanmasında önemi büyüktür. Farklı tiplere ayrılan bu klinik çalışmaların amacı, diş çürüğünün önlenmesi için kullanılan profilaktik ajanların etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Son yıllarda çürüğün görülme sıklığı, epidemiyolojisi ve teşhis yöntemleri ile ilgili değişiklikler çürükle ilgili klinik çalışmaları da önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. Bu çalışmaların planlanmasında, örnek sayısının belirlenmesinde ve hasta takibinde, çürüğün saptanmasında, veri toplanmasında, veri analizinde ve elde edilen bu verilerin sunulmasında dikkat edilmesi gereken temel noktalar, çalışmanın başarısını etkilemektedir. Bu derlemede, çürükle ilgili klinik çalışmaların genel özellikleri, tipleri, kurgulanması ve sonuçlarının sunulması ile birlikte etkinliklerinin arttırılmasına yönelik olarak neler yapılabileceği irdelenmektedir.
During the past 50 years, there have been great developments in randomized clinical trials to evaluate interventions to prevent and treatment of dental caries. Caries clinical trials have great importance in developing further diagnostic methods and treatment planning for individuals with high caries activity. The objective of various caries clinical trials is to test propyhlactic agents for the prevention of dental caries. The changes with regard to caries incidence, epidemiology and caries detection methods have a great impact on caries clinical trials. The basic matters related to the study design, sample size and patient recruitment, data acquisition, data analysis and reporting the results do affect the success of the trial. This review has reviewed the characteristics and types of the caries clinical trials, designs of the studies and reporting the results together with the opportunities for efficiency in caries trials.
