Özet
Budist Uygurlardan kalma yazılı belgelerin büyük bir kısmı Çinçe, Tibetçe, Toharca, Soğdça ve Sanskritçeden yapılmış çevirilere dayanır. Elimize ulaşan eserler çeviri olma özelliği gösterse de, Uygurlar anlaşılması bir hayli zor Budist kavramları Uygurcada ifade etmekte büyük başarı göstermiştir. Bu kavramları ifade etmek için kimi zaman mevcut kaynaklarından faydalanmış, kimi zaman yabancı dillerden ödünç almış, bazen de kendisi yeni kelimeler türetmiştir. Makalemizde üzerinde duracağımız yilvi de Uygurca döneminde oluşturulan kelimelerden biridir. Uygurca yilvi kelimesinin okunuşu ve etimolojisi şimdiye kadar doğru olarak yapılamamıştır. Makalede, yilvi hakkında ortaya konan görüşler tartışılacak ve kelime ile ilgili bir etimoloji denemesi sunulacaktır.
A large section of written documents remaining from Buddhist Uighurs relies on translations from Chinese, Tibetan, Tohar, Sogdian and the Sanskrit language. Even though the preserved works are characteristic translations, they excel in expressing Buddhist concepts, which are difficult to understand, in Uighur. They used in expressing these concepts they used existing available resources and borrowings from foreign languages as well as derived new words. the word yilvi, elaborated in this paper, is one of the words created in the Uighur period. Pronunciation and etymology of theUighur word yilvi wasn't done correctly up till now. in this paper, suggestions about yilvi will be discussed and trial etymology of this word presented.
