Özet
Müzikbilimi perspektifine göre müziğin kültürün içine gömülü olduğu güçlü bir
söylemdir. Bu manada kültür-müzik ilişkisini açığa çıkarmak adına etnomüzikolojinin
faydalandığı kuramlardan biri işlevselcilik teorisidir.
Bu tez, müzikte işlev çerçevesinde mehter takımlarının tarihsel süreç içerisindeki
işlevlerini belirlemeye ve zamanla geçirdiği değişimleri Çanakkale Musiki ve Halk
Oyunları Derneği Mehteran Takımı müzik pratikleri ekseninde incelemeye; bunun yanı
sıra Çanakkale Musiki ve Halk Oyunları Derneği Mehteran Takımı özelinde mehter
repertuvarının, yürüyüş düzeninin, kıyafetlerinin, çalgılarının ve performans
mekanlarının da zamanla geçirdiği değişime ve bu değişimin altında yatan dinamikleri
çözümlemeye odaklanır.
Bu tez çalışmasında, bir bando takımı olarak mehterin geçmişten günümüze
yerine getirdiği işlevlerinin Çanakkale Musiki ve Halk Oyunları Derneği Mehteran
Takımı özelindeki varlığı Etnografik çalışmalarla tespit edilmiştir. Bu çerçevede 2019 ve
2020 yılları arasında Çanakkale Musiki ve Halk Oyunları Derneği Mehteran Takımı
performans öncesi, performans esnasında ve performans sonrasında katılımcı gözlem
yolu ile incelenmiş; mehteran takımı üyeleri ile görüşmeler yapılmış; elde edilen veriler
ile mehter konusuna ilişkin literatür harmanlanmış ve tezin temel kavramı olan “İşlev”
kavramı ile ilişkilendirilerek serimlenmiştir.
From the musicology perspective, it is a powerful discourse in which music is embedded in culture. In this sense, one of the theories used by ethnomusicology to reveal the relationship between culture and music is the functionalism theory. This thesis aims to determine the functions of mehter teams in the historical process within the framework of their function in music and to examine the changes they have undergone over time in the context of music practices of Çanakkale Music and Folk Dances Association Mehteran Team; in addition, Çanakkale Music and Folk Dances Association Mehteran Team focuses on the change of repertoire, march pattern, clothes, instruments and performance venues, and analyzing the dynamics underlying this change. In this thesis, the existence of the functions of the mehter as a marching band from the past to the present in the Çanakkale Music and Folk Dances Association Mehteran Team has been determined by ethnographic studies. In this context, Çanakkale Music and Folk Dances Association Mehteran Team was examined by participant observation before, during and after the performance between 2019 and 2020; meetings were held with mehteran team members; the literature on the subject of mehter has been blended with the obtained data and laid out in relation to the concept of "Function", which is the basic concept of the thesis.
