Özet

Luxury fibers - mohair, alpaca, Angora etc. - are fibers, obtained from animals other than sheep. Mohair fibers have a wide variety of end-uses, e.g. in woman dresses because of their luster. On the other hand Angora fibers, itself or mixed with other fibers are used in manufacturing woman outer garments (hats, gloves etc.). As these fibers are also protein based, dyeing characteristics are similar to wool however, there are some differences between them. Mohair and Angora fibers can be dyed with wool dyes, as well as with natural dyes. If we put aside the dyes used for special and aesthetic purposes, it can be said that modem synthetic dyes are of a great importance. This research reveals the differences in the dyeing properties of mohair, Angora and wool. According to the experimental results, the depth of dyeing was found to be greater in the range of Angora-wool-mohair. Difference in rate and depth of dyeing of these fibers-changed from one dyestuff to another, although the trends were similar for all dyes.
