Özet
Paul Haggis’in yönetmenliğini yaptığı Crash (Çarpışma, 2004) filmi, Amerika’da yaşayan çeşitli ırkların (siyah, beyaz, Çinli, Latin kökenli…) arasındaki çelişkileri ve çatışmaları, bireysel hikâyeler aracılığıyla romantikleştirerek anlatan bir dramadır. Filmin önemi, anlatı yapısının merkezine yalnızca siyah / beyaz çatışmasını koymaması, Amerika’da yaşayan diğer ırklar ve ırklar arası ilişki örüntülerini de yerleştirmesidir. Filmde, ırkçılığın temellerinden birini oluşturan “önyargı” olgusu, siyah ya da beyaz, kadın ya da erkek herkesin sahip olduğu olumsuz bir özellik olarak eleştirel bir şekilde sunulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, filmde yer alan temsillerin arasındaki sınıfsal, psikolojik, toplumsal… “çarpışma”ların kaynağını oluşturan “önyargı” olgusu incelenmektedir. Önyargının eşitsizlik üzerine kurulan kapitalist sistem tarafından egemen sınışarın kendi çıkarları doğrultusunda kullanılan politik bir güç olarak yapay bir şekilde kurgulandığı irdelenmektedir.
The movie Crash, directed by Paul Haggis, is a drama which narrates the contradictions and conflicts between several races (black, white, Chinese, Hispanic...) living in U.S.A. through individual stories and by romanticizing them. the main thing is that the movie deals not only with the conflict between black and white, but with the relationships between the other races. in the movie “prejudice“ is one of the bases of racism and is represented through a critical point of view as a negative characteristic that is seen in every character. This article studies the fact of “prejudice as the source of the psychological and social “crashes“ between the characters that take place in the movie. It is asserted that prejudice is constructed by the capitalist system as a political power which is used to the advantage of the dominant classes in an artificial way.
