Özet
Figs are commercially grown for drying in the Big and Small Meander Valleys of the Aegean Region in western Turkey. During the last thirty years, the Small Meander Valley declined in significance. Intensive fig growing is practised mainly in the Irimagzi area in the Odemis township and the crop is destined for export. There is an increasing demand for organically grown figs. In order to determine the nutritional status of fig orchards in this area, leaf and soil samples (from two depths: 0-25 and 25-50 cm) were taken. Primary and secondary nutrient levels (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn and Cu) of the samples were determined, and the results were evaluated in terms of possible quality problems.
