Özet
İnsan, var olduğu günden itibaren silah ile iç içe geçmiş bir varlıktır. Bu yüzden ilerleyişini çoğu zaman geliştirdiği silah teknolojileri ile ortaya koyar. Yay da kuşkusuz bu silahların başında gelir. Tartışma götürmeksizin binlerce yıldan beri insanlığa hizmet etmiş bu silahın en önemli gelişim aşamalarından biri bileşik yay mimarisidir. Bu mimari, ahşap, tendon, boynuz, tutkal gibi en az dört farklı materyalin bir araya gelmesi sonucu oluşmaktadır. Zira Türkler de bilinen tarihlerinin başından itibaren bileşik yay ile özdeşleştirilmiş bir kavim olarak zikredilmektedir. Fakat ne yazık ki ülkemizde bu konuyla ilgili müstakil bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Biz de çalışmamızda, bu eksikliği gidermek adına insanın savaş ve silah kavramları ile ilişkisi, okçuluğun ortaya çıkışı, bileşik yayın icadı ve gelişim aşamaları gibi konuları ortaya koymaya çalışacağız.
Humans are always known as creatures which has connected with weapon from their first steps. Because of this, most of their time, they show us their developments with new weapon technologies. And bows are one of the most important technologies that has been invented by humanity. After this, composite bow structures are giant steps of the bow without doubt. This structure is made of more than three materials like wood, sinew, horn and glue. From beginning of their time, Turks are always known with their composite bows. Unfortunately, in Turkey, there is not any research about this matter. Because of this, we are going to try resolve it on this thesis with relations between human, war and weapon; beginning of archery; invention of composite bow and its development stages.
