| dc.description.abstract | The construction of the palace was initiated in 1450; furthermore, new buildingswere added to it and the old buildings were restored in the Classical Ottoman Period. Disusedby the sultans as of the second half of the 18th century, the palace was negatively affected bythe Russo?Ottoman War and the process of disappearance of the palace commenced. Ceramicsfrom different materials and of different types that belonged to the Ottoman Period were foundduring the excavations carried out at different times. The red?paste glazed ceramics include asmall amount of ceramics with sgraffito decorations and underglaze painted ceramics as well asabundant monochrome glazed ceramics. Considering their analogues, it is understood that themonochrome glazed ceramics dated to the late period were produced at the workshops in andaround Edirne. On the other hand, the unglazed ceramics comprise water containers, lids, andthe rim sherds of storage jars in various shapes. Given their decoration characteristics andshapes, these ceramics are again dated to the late period. The place of the glazed and unglazedceramics discovered in the excavations of 2013 and 2014 in the Ottoman ceramic art wasevaluated in this paper. | en_US |
