Özet
Following the description of Lewy body spectrum disorders by Kosaka in 1980, dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) which was considered as a rare cause of dementia before, is much more frequently recognized. DLB can be considered as being a member of spectrum of disorders which also includes Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The prevalence of DLB has been estimated between 10-26 % by using clinical diagnosis consensus criteria. DLB presents with cognitive, motor and psychiatric symptoms and most of the patients are elderly. Depression, anxiety and psychotic symptoms which are characterized by hallucinations and persecutory delusions are very common and the clinical presentation routinely includes one of the psychiatric symptoms. The diagnosis and management of DLB must be recognized by psychiatrists by the fact that its prevalence is estimated to be very common among the psychiatrically ill elderly patients. Here we report a DLB case with depressive symptoms and discuss the diagnosis and different diagnosis under the light of current literature.
