Purpose :This research is a descriptive, comparative and cross-sectional field study aimed to examınatıon the factors affect the psychological resilience of individuals with cardiovascular disease and healthy individuals. Method :The study was carried out between October 1, 2018 and January 1, 2019 at the cardiology polyclinic and the other polyclinics of Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Health Application and Research Hospital. The sample of this study consisted of the sum of 281 individuals who are 137 individuals with cardiovascular disease and 144 healthy individuals (without a chronic disease, showing homogeneous characteristics like the group with disease). The data were collected via "Personal Information Form" and "Adult Psychological Resilience Scale". Statistical analysis of the data was performed via SPSS 22 program. Number and percentage distributions, mean and standard deviation, Chi Square Test, Indipendent Samples T-test, ANOVA analysis wereimplemented for data analysis. Findings : The majority (64.0%) of the patients with cardiovascular disease were male and the majority (55.6%) of the healthy individuals were female. The majority (43.2%) of individuals with Cardiovascular Disease were in the 51-65 age range, and the majority (41.0%) of healthy individuals were in the 36-50 age range. The mean score of the psychological resilience scale of individuals with cardiovascular disease is 70.94 ± 18.73, the mean score of the psychological resilience scale of healthy individuals is 68.50 ± 15.73. The mean structural style score of the individuals with cardiovascular disease was 11,20 ± 4,39 and the mean structural style score of healthy individuals was 9.51 ± 3,32. Mean perception of future of individuals with cardiovascular disease is 10.06 ± 4.62, mean perception of future of healthy individuals is 8.77 ± 3.21. Conclusion : There is no significant difference is found in terms of psychological resilience level between the individuals with cardiovascular disease and healthy individuals; however, there is a significant difference is seen on the level of the structural style and the future perception level that are the subscales of psychological resilience scale on the side of healthy individuals.
