Hemşirelerin %50,8’i Y kuşağında idi.
Objective: To determine the job satisfaction ofsurgical nursesin X and Y generation working in a university hospital and the factors that affect job satisfaction. Material and Methods: the research was a descriptive and cross-sectional study. It was performed with 75 nurses working in general, orthopedics, chest and cardiovascular, neurosurgery, urology, otorhinolaryngology and plastic surgery services of a university hospital. Personal information form and “job satisfaction scale” were used in the research. Results: 50.8% of the nurses are in the Y generation. the job satisfaction score of the nurses is 90.58±16.56. There was no statistically significant difference between job satisfaction scale scores of nursesin the X and Y generation. A significant difference wasfound between the individual factors and the physical conditions subscales of the Job Satisfaction Scale of nurses in the X and Y generation. A significant difference was found between the scores of job satisfaction scale according to the satisfaction of the clinics where nurses work. It was determined that the nurses’ generation difference and satisfaction with the clinic they work at significantly predicted job satisfaction, and these variables explained 35% of the total variance. Conclusion: Job satisfaction of surgical nurses was found moderate. Job satisfaction levels of nurses in the X and Y levels are similar. It is thought that generational difference does not affect job satisfaction. the job satisfaction of nurses who are not satisfied with the working environment is low. It is recommended to conduct qualitative research on job satisfaction.
