Woman in medicine [Tipta kadin olmak]

Dating from emerging, the medical profession as old as history of human, that is one of the most classical and esteemable carrier, treated as a masculine business in our present time to boot. To have adequate place in this profession, women had to face up to many difficulties, to undertake significant roles such as in specialisation and academism inparticular. Now it's generally accepted, Elizabeth Blackwell of USA (1851) was the first woman physician in the world. Today in developed countries, while half of students of medicine are formed by girls, specialists are only about 15-20 % and woman executive managers roughly %5-6. Leading factors to effect in specialty election by the women are children and family responsibilities throughout the world. But men's makes their choices in branch of expertness up to technology handling, scientific activities, positive advancement means and the oppurtunity to earn money. Woman physicians, all over the world, are inclined to show a triplet proclivity, called as "Cinderella Choices", consisting of pathology, physchiatry and radiology. It's also known that they have to predominate at pediatrics cilinics. Studies brings up that the woman physicians are much more accomplished over the physchosocial adaptation and approdging to their patients. Being able to be accepted by the schools of medicine of our country's women and to work as a physician hes been materialized right after the declaration of republic and thanks to Atatürk. Presently as it occurs in general everywhere in the world, Turkish woman physicians that would not be promoted nor to have enough place in general operation and cardiology branches. We count on, all woman physicians of world will be able to be a mate and a mother in the following years that may distribute more occupational means and vital facilities.
