Özet
Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) has been tested as a possible biomonitor of heavy metal pollution at Antalya, Turkey; 36 urban, urban roadside, urban park, suburban and rural sites in and near Antalya city were investigated. Concentrations of Pb, Cd, Zn and Cu have been determined for unwashed and washed leaflets and soils. Differences between unwashed and washed samples varied according to the metal pollutant. There were good correlations between the heavy metal concentration in surface soil and washed leaflets. P. dactylifera has been confirmed as a useful biomonitor of those heavy metals investigated.
