Özet
The advantages of compact spinning with respect to yarn quality are studied. These include a reduction in yarn hairiness in both long-staple and short-staple yarns and some improvement in yarn strength and breaking elongation. Mill experience shows that ends down in spinning is reduced by a minimum of 20% and winding speed can be increased because of the smoother yarn surface. Fabrics produced from compact yarn are made suitable for easy-care finishing because of the greater yarn strength. Sizing and singeing costs can be reduced and yarn breakages in weaving are appreciably reduced. Results are given for cotton and wool yarns.
